BLAST NOZZLES AND COUPLINGS - We supply, sell and stock one of the widest variety of nozzles and couplings available. From small nozzles for your Microblaster to the large ½" ID nozzles used for cleaning in blast rooms and outside bridge contract cleaning. Couplings to connect your blast unit to the hose are usually called tank couplings (TC). Quick couplings (QC) would connect the blast hose to the tank or to another hose for longer runs. Both the TC and QC can be made of aluminum, brass or plastic. With aluminum being the most popular. Nozzle couplings (NC) allow to connect the nozzle to the blast hose. And many have a male thread in order to screw in the nozzle. Make sure that your nozzle thread size matches the female thread of the NC. This is an all to common mistake for people to overlook. Also make sure that you have a nozzle washer located between the NC and nozzle in order to eliminate premature nozzle wear. Careful consideration should be taken to match up your nozzle to both the abrasive you are using and the compressor size.
BLAST HOSE - Only the finest abrasive blast hose is sold by Metal Preparations. We cover a range from ½" ID to 1 ½" ID. All of our blast hoses are tested for flexibility, resilience, cut and tear resistance and wear properties. Carbon black is added to reduce static electricity. TIP! - make sure that when installing your blast hose your ends are square cut, thus creating a tight seal between hose and coupling, reducing the chance of blowouts and premature wear.
BLAST HOODS, CO MONITORS AND SAFETY GEAR - It's one thing to blast efficiently, but you should not sacrifice safety. Metal Preparations offers several alternatives when it comes to blast hoods, CO monitors and free-air pumps and safety gear. There are Several OSHA Statements that cover the safety requirements when blasting. CO monitors are used when supplying the operator with your general compressor air. Otherwise free-air pumps are widely used. Free-air pumps eliminate the need for CO monitors, but the air often times is "slower" to the operator and can become very warm, particularly in the summer months. In regards to other safety devices offered there are "site lights"-especially designed for blasting in dark areas. Deadman controls cooling vests, helmet air conditioners, and special single piece blast suits and canvas pants or jackets.
WHEEL BLAST CAST LINERS, BLADES, IMPELLERS, CAGES - Special alloys go into making this part for wheel blast equipment. Manganese is one of the most popular materials used. When used is a steel shot blast system - It will "work harden" itself. In regards to blades, impellers, and cages- they may be very wear resistant, but they are also very brittle, so care must be taken when installing and operating these items. Metal Preparations offers spare parts for all the major wheel blast companies including Wheelabrator, Goff and Pangborn.
REPLACEMENT BLAST CABINET WINDOWS - All of our cabinet windows are made of double laminated safety glass. Several options are available to minimize the wear and tear on the windows. They include- Mylar lenses and perforated metal screens.
DUST COLLECTOR BAGS AND CARTRIDGES - We have bags and cartridges in a variety of sizes shapes. Cartridges and cartridge dust collectors have become ever more popular since they have far greater filtration area then their counterparts.
COMPOUND METERING PUMPS - This is recommended to all vibratory mass finishers. Automatic compound dispensing assures consistent processing. A flow-through solution cleans chips, flash, soil, abrasive fines, oils out of the process chamber. And the most economical way to dispense vibratory finishing compound is to use a flow-through utilizing a compound metering pump. Compound metering pumps are used with liquid compounds that you can set to a desired amount of both compound and water. Once set to the desired compound and water amount, no other action is needed. A flow-through liquid compound system is superior to hand additions of dry or pre-mix compounds which are generally wasteful and difficult to use. Metering pumps are not used for abrasive compounds.
SOUND COVERS - Our noise covers can decrease noise levels by as much as 10 dBA. With OSHA 8-hour exposure standards @ 90 dBA, this amount of sound reduction can be critical in meeting government standards as well as creating a more comfortable environment.
